In the mid-eighties, the appearance of Michael Jordan in the NBA completely changed the sneaker industry because the brand was created: Jordan. Hand in hand with designers Peter Moore, Bruce Kilgore and Tinker Hatfield, Nike managed to create the most famous sneakers of all time. In fact, they still are, more than three decades later.
The first Air Jordan 1s were created to measure for the player, but some time later they began to manufacture standard sizes for anyone.
But his story goes beyond his incredible design because in reality, Michael did not want to sign with the company, he was thinking of partnering with Adidas and even Converse, since the design of the first Nike shoes was not his total liking.
However, the Chicago Bulls player's comments reached designer Peter Moore , who decided to reduce the size of the midsole and mark a new path in the brand's footwear.

They finally managed to create a line of sneakers and these were officially put on sale in 1985. The OG model of the Jordan 1 combined black and red, a fact that the NBA was not very amused about and did not hesitate to criticize them for not complying With the regulations, in fact, if they were used, they would have to pay a fine of $5,000 per game, but this would not stop the brand, so they paid the fine and continued to bet on their shoes. Michael played throughout the season in his Jordans and this controversy only made these shoes more talked about and therefore more popular.

It was not until two years later that the famous Jumpman logo was presented, which consisted of the silhouette of Michael Jordan jumping.

The big impact of the first Jordans, beyond their incredible design, was actually the connection that I created between the sport and the streets. It was a time when the only way to know what was on was to look at the feet of those around you.

In 1985, the price of a pair of Air Jordans was around 90 dollars, after thousands of pairs were sold around the world, their price rose considerably. Currently a pair like this, original, with its box, unused, can cost around 6000 dollars.
